The St. Andrew’s chapter of National Junior Honor Society wants to tank all those who baked and made purchases at their recent bake sale! They raised over $150 for GiGi’s Playhouse, a center for students with Down Syndrome. This is a center that is developing a a location in Buffalo and provides educational, life and social skills for these students. They had a fundraiser on October 13th at Mason’s Mission in Pendelton Park. Mrs. Cacicia and Ms. Stainsby delivered the check from the bake sale at the park and the organizers were beyond grateful! This area of the park is specially made for children with special needs and more will be added in the near future. Check out the pictures from the park and thank you again for supporting GiGi’s Playhouse. Friend them on Facebook and check out the shout out they gave St. Andrew’s on their page!
The National Junior Honor Society was founded in 1929 in the hopes of creating an organization that would recognize and encourage academic achievement while also developing other characteristics essential to citizens in a democracy. The ideals of character, scholarship, leadership, service, and citizenship remain as relevant today as they were in 1929. Through the NJHS chapter service activities and academic standards, members maintain and extend the qualities that won them selection.
All 6th, 7th, and 8th Graders who meet the criteria based on scholarship (cumulative average of 90 or higher), character, leadership, citizenship qualities in and out of school, and have completed service hour requirements are invited and encouraged to Apply for Membership by submitting the NJHS Application. All necessary paperwork must be completed in its entirety and submitted to the NJHS mailbox located in the main office. Please refer to the NJHS Application directions as applications missing information or references will automatically be rejected. All decisions based on membership are final.
