Welcome to Mrs. Sykes’ PreK-4!
In our class we focus on reading, writing, and number concepts through 10. The students learn a new letter each week, as well as focusing on numbers, shapes, and colors. We implement these concepts in a variety of ways through all of the core subject areas.
We have different themes each week as well. Some topics include: back-to-school, apples, farm, pumpkins, Thanksgiving, Advent, Christmas, seasons, arctic animals, ocean, Valentine’s Day, Lent, and Easter to name a few! We are constantly differentiating our learning to meet various needs. Our instruction time is generally center-based, with occasional whole group lessons and activities.
In addition to core instruction, it is very important that students learn life skills during this time. Everything from sharing, make-believe, fine and gross motor skills, manners, and patience are covered on a daily basis. We center our classroom around God and teach faith and to love one another as Jesus loves us.
Donut’s With Dads was a very “sweet” morning! The students gave their special guest some gifts and got to enjoy some time together drinking juice and having donuts. Thank you to all the dads and grandpas who joined us! It meant so much to your kids to have you there 🙂 (Thankfully they had gym shortly after and were able to run off some of the sugar!)
