Back to School 2020

We are so excited to welcome all of our Lancers back to school! As we get closer to the first day, here is some information to prepare you for our first week of school.

During our first week of school, all students will be introduced to our new health and safety procedures, as well as getting to know their teachers and classroom procedures. We ask for your patience as these procedures are new to everyone, and may cause some delays.

Our Schedule:

Wednesday, September 9, 7:40 a.m. to 11:00 a.m (All students)

Thursday, September 10, 7:40 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. (All students)

Friday, September 11, 7:40 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. (All students)

Arrival Procedures:

School will begin at 7:40 a.m. You may drop-off your child starting at 7:00 a.m. If there are delays during this first week due to the new drop-off procedure, no tardiness will be recorded.

Parents will enter the Lowell St. Parking Lot from Entrance One (1). (See below for parking lot diagram.) Cars will line up heading towards the McNulty Hall Loop (4). If the car line is long, please line up on Lowell Drive, facing Elmwood Ave to avoid overflow onto Elmwood.

Once your car has arrived at the McNulty Kitchen Door (4), your child will exit the car and step to the door. A faculty member will take your child’s temperature, and welcome him or her.

***Please encourage your child to gather all of their belongings in hand so that they are ready to get out of the car promptly.***

*If you have children in multiple grades, they may exit together and walk into McNulty Hall together. They will then be seated by class.

*If you have small children who need help getting out of the car or gathering their supplies, please step out of the car, assist your child out of the car and then return to your car. If you are getting out of your car, you must wear a mask.

*If your child is having a difficult time with going into school, we ask that you please drive around the school, park in the parking lot and try again when your child is ready.

Students will be taken into McNulty Hall where they will be assigned a seat to wait for the start of school. At 7:40, students will be escorted to their classroom by their teachers.

Dismissal Procedures:

For the first week of school, dismissal will be at 11:00 a.m. Students will wait for parents in McNulty Hall. Parents will follow the same procedure as drop-off, entering the Parking Lot through Entrance 1, and queueing through the McNulty Drive-Through (4).

We ask you to please write your last name in large writing on a sheet of paper, and keep it in your car for dismissal time. As you approach the McNulty Drive-Through, hold up your sign, a faculty member will use a walkie to prepare your student for your arrival. As you arrive at the McNulty Door (4), your child will be sent out to your car. Please exit onto Sheridan Drive (5).

After School Care:

After School Care will be available from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Please email afterschool@standrewscds.net to reserve your child’s spot for this first week. Pick-up procedure information for After School will be emailed to you separately.


Students should be in uniform according to the school’s uniform policy. Pre-K students should follow the guidelines for acceptable dress listed at the top of the uniform policy. (Pre-K 4 t-shirts have not yet arrived, so students should dress in comfortable weather-appropriate tops until their receipt).


Due to safety precautions, the school’s cafeteria service is suspended. Please pack a lunch for your child. Students may bring a lunch box and water bottle. Students will be assigned a place for their lunches and belongings, as well as a lunch spot in McNulty Hall (Pre-K through Grade 4) or the Cafeteria (Grades 5-8).

Normal School Hours:

Starting, Monday, September 14, we will operate on normal school hours, beginning at 7:40 a.m. and dismissing at 2:20 p.m. Early arrival time will be available from 7:00 a.m. After School Care will be available until 6:00 p.m.
